Montessori Classroom, Math, and Phonics Instruction Resources

Montessori Classroom, Prepared Environment

This is the term we will use, or sometime just “environment” for short, to describe any space prepared for specific learners. It might be a Montessori classroom environment, in a school or a home, and it might be a child’s bedroom. It could be an outdoor play space or a kitchen (or a corner in it) or a dance studio. Many educators who use math manipulatives don't realize that the whole hands-on math movement has roots in the Montessori math curriculum. Other teachers who have seen the benefits of early phonics instruction that includes tactile letters or even magnetic letters don't know that Montesssori's movable alphabet and sandpaper letters started those techniques. We believe the information here will help concerned teachers and parents whether they have studied Montessori education or not. This section will be for any resource that will help a teacher or mentor better prepare any environment for effective learning.
