Montessori Activities in the Home
This section is to give direction to parents who want to apply Montessori principles in their regular home environment. These ideas are for all parents whether their children attend a Montessori school, are homeschooled using Montessori activities, or do schooling with a different approach. If you homeschool your children, you will want to check out the teachers section as well. Though the strategies in this section will overflow into your schooling time, it is easier to organize the resources here into those for a home environment and those for a classroom environment – even if that classroom is inside your home.
A good place to start, whether or not you think you might want to become a member here, is the Member's Triangle. The overview of those sections will quickly help you understand some important Montessori learning principles. The Mentor section there will also have specific content for parents.
Once you have a beginning sense that it is important to know your learner, prepare the learning environment, and be a conscientious mentor, check out the blog. There you will find short pieces that will enhance your understanding of these ideas and give you practical applications in real life situations. Remember that a Montessori classroom is a very natural environment. Read anecdotes about classroom experiences too, because they will usually give you insight into good parenting strategies as well.
Finally, if you like what you find in those areas, check out the reviews and our store. There you will find books, audio, and video programs to help you deepen your understanding and your ability to become a more loving and effective parent.
